Dear brothers and sisters,

I am writing to thank you for your letter of September 12, 2007. I appreciate you taking the time to reflect upon the various challenges facing the Episcopal Church today. It is my hope that this is a time for growth and renewal of faith.

As you well know, the House of Bishops meeting has now concluded. I pray that you will find promise in the September statement. While reflecting a variety of viewpoints, it was certainly informed by the work and witness of congregations such as your own.

Once again, thank you for your letter and for your expressions of support. Even more than this, I am grateful the effort and time that has gone into articulating what you, as members of the Episcopal Church of the Apostles, have come to believe. Your work is greatly appreciated. I remain
