Vicar's letter for May

Dear Friends;

I greet you in the name of Christ! This month I and my family will be joining the larger family of Church of the Apostles. We are glad to be with you.

In the weeks to come I will be visiting with groups ranging from our Life Cells, and neighborhood gatherings to a brunch with the Bishop's Committee. Many thanks to Sue Fenihiger and Bill Kraus for this. Beyond that I look forward to visiting those who are interested individually as well, by having coffee, pastoral visits and lunch as might be appropriate.

On Sunday, May 11th, the Church will celebrate the Feast of Pentecost. On that day, and in the weeks that follow, we remember God's unique gift to the Apostles -- the gift of his Holy Spirit. Simply reading the church sign on Tangerine tells our neighbors that our congregation has chosen as our path to follow Jesus just as the first Apostles did. In Pentecost we do not so much as leave the celebration of the Resurrection behind, as we begin to see it fulfilled in our own lives and in all who love and follow God. I pray that we too may receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, that we may joyfully worship and serve God in spirit and in truth.

I am grateful also, for all those stalwart leaders who have been assisting with leadership and pastoral care at Apostles this spring. I look forward to caring for our congregation side by side with you and welcoming those new members of our family whom we have to meet.
