The first phase of our columbarium project has been completed and has been
blessed. Internment of ashes of departed loved ones has begun. There are basically two
reasons we decided to have an area at our church property for interring of ashes.
Granite has been affixed to the inside of the bench wall, and is inscribed with the names
of those interred inside. For those whose ashes are buried in the ground under the flagstone,
their names are etched directly into the flagstone where they are buried. The names of
those whose ashes are scattered in the garden will be etched in the flagstone of the bench.
There is also a map in the office showing the overall site, and we hope to have some
type of artwork or map case for use outside.
Apostles' columbarium provides for the internment of ashes in three ways:
1) Ashes (in urns, simple boxes or bags) can be interred in a niche in the curved bench.
2) Ashes can be interred directly in the ground under the flagstone in front of the curved
bench.
3) Ashes can be interred in the flower garden area of the columbarium or they can
be simply sprinkled directly onto the soil of the garden. |
